Note: When looking at a preowned ATM machine to purchase, an ATM buyer needs to be aware of the history of the ATM in regards to upgrades. Since 2006, ATM machines in service have to be upgraded to current Visa PCI pinpad encryption standards. Most working ATMs have been. If it has been in storage, maybe not. Also, you may be looking at a preowned ATM that was manufactured to 1991 ADA requirements. Most machines made before 2008, need some kind of upgrade, which could just involve a decal. With the new ADA guidelines going into effect in 2012, there may be thousands and thousands of machines not upgradeable because of height, or reach requirements. Or because the software inside does not support speech. If a used ATM does not meet the new ADA requirements by March 15, 2012, that ATM could be subject to legal action in the court system. You may be getting a good deal on a preowned machine now, but it could be a machine that cannot be upgraded later.

Another point to consider: the inner mechanisms. How many transactions does the cash cassette, or CDU have in it's history? If an ATM has cash jams, and you do not know it when you buy it, they can be hard to trace down and fix. New machines are calibrated at the factory to dispense bills smoothly. Machines being moved frequently are subject to mechanism troubles, bill sensor alignment. Most ATM machines allow the easy removal of the CDU. If shipping the ATM frequently, the CDU could be removed and packed alone, preventing any jarring motions of the ATM damaging the CDU.

Used ATM machines must be placed on the networks to function. If you need simple ATM transaction processing that costs pennies to use, we can do that. We are agents for MAG processing and we service their transaction processing accounts. We can sign you up on the network, get master keys issued, setup your banking information for surcharge deposits, and fill out government required ATM forms. We can get your used ATM up and running in as little as 2-3 days. We will ship master keys overnight with any required forms needed for the ATM to conduct transactions.

The machine when installed must conform to ADA guidelines. Simply, if a wheelchair user cannot face the ATM, the ATM should be relocated. At wheelchair height, if a person can use the ATM normally, without difficulty in using the screen and keypad, it probably is within guidelines. We will be posting the new guidelines as soon as we can. Stand up ATMs are already manufactured within the guidelines of the ADA. In-the-wall machines need to be installed to the ADA guidelines. In 2011, the ADA guidelines are being revised. Not all older ATM's will comply and may need to be replaced. The deadline is now projected to be March 15, 2012. Check out our resources page for the latest on ADA.
