What you need to know before you buy an ATM
All buyers of ATM machines in the USA have a series of forms
to complete. Some are required by the Federal government and the Patriot
Act. We can send any forms you need by email, and we will help you
fill them out.
If you need any options or upgrades before you buy an ATM ,
we will get you an updated price quote in a matter of minutes.
We issue pre-sale invoices and purchase orders (by mail, email, Fedex)
to you for accuracy and review before the sale. You may want additional
cash cassettes, or an electronic lock. Perhaps a tall topper sign
for visibility. All of these are options that are not included in
the initial base price of an automated teller machine. A pre-sale
invoice we send you, before you buy an ATM, let's you see exactly what you are purchasing, along with
any options. and you can print it on paper if received by email. Review
the invoice, approve it, and we eliminate any mistakes from the beginning.
The next step is payment. The most popular ways to buy an ATM and pay for it are by bank
money order or bank wire transfer. Other methods are available including
personal and business checks, however they must clear before delivery
is initiated from the factory.
If you would like to buy an ATM through a lease to own plan,
we will draw up the paper work and work with the lease company to
help you get an ATM.
If you require someone to install the machine, we can arrange
that for you. We can find ATM tech's nationwide to install
and service your machine. We also have our own database of techs in
many states. You can pay the ATM tech directly, even on the job site
if you prefer. Or you can pay us and we will pay the tech for their
services. Costs run from $150 for simple installation to $250 and
up for drilling holes and bolt down.
An ATM regulation from 2006 stems from the Patriot Act concerning
background checks and money wire transfers. If someone has a felony
on their record, they cannot operate an ATM in the USA because an
ATM conducts wire transfers from a bank account. People with a felony
record cannot legally operate or even legally fill an ATM with money.
A background check must now be run by the processing networks before
an ATM is allowed on the network to make sure the law is followed.
If someone thinks they may not pass a background check because of
a felony record, maybe a spouse or business partner can. As stated
above, anyone with a felony cannot own a machine or load money into
the machine, this includes an individual performing administrative
duties inside the machine. An ATM falls under the wire transfer regulations
for banking which are part of the Patriot Act.
Before or after calling us, the prospective ATM owner should
locate the spot where the ATM will be installed. It should
have an AC outlet close. Some Tidel machines require a hard wire AC
hookup, because they don't have an AC plug. Most ATMs however plug
into ordinary 110 AC circuit outlets. Also, a basic phone line will
need to be located close to the machine. Preferably a dedicated phone
line, meaning nothing else shares the line. It doesn't need long distance
service, just the ability to make a 1-800 toll free call. The phone
line plugs into the machines internal modem.
The machine when installed must conform to ADA guidelines.
Simply, if a wheelchair user cannot face the ATM, the ATM should be
relocated. At wheelchair height, if a person can use the ATM normally,
without difficulty in using the screen and keypad, it probably is
within guidelines. We will be posting the new guidelines as soon as
we can. Stand up ATMs are already manufactured within the guidelines
of the ADA. In-the-wall machines need to be installed to the ADA guidelines.
In 2011, the ADA guidelines are being revised. Not all older ATM's
will comply and may need to be replaced. The deadline is now projected
to be March 15, 2012. Check out our resources page for the latest
on ADA.
Machines ship when paid for. Most machines ship
in about two or three days. An order is placed with the factory and
is processed and ready to ship, sometimes in 48 hours. ATM manufacturers
do not build weeks ahead anymore. When you buy your ATM machine, it will be assembled at
the factory only when the purchase order is received from us. Some ATM machines
can be programmed at the factory saving installation charges. Most
machines ship FREE to the lower 48 states.!
We only sell ATM's in the USA.
