What ATM owners need to know! Below is an assortment of answers and general information:

What are the logos on the back of ATM cards?

You may recognize the Cirrus logo as MasterCard. It is the processing network of MasterCard. Plus, is the Visa network. Two other large networks are Star and MAC. Banks issue MasterCard and Visa credit cards to consumers like you and me. They also issue their own ATM debit cards that we drive up to the ATM to use.

A transaction at indoor ATMs are the same as at a drive up bank ATM. You put your card in, enter your PIN number, tell the ATM how much you want, and in seconds, you get your money, and a receipt. An electronic journal records all of the transaction information for each transaction attempt. In case of a cardholder disputing how much was dispensed, printing the electronic journal is proof of what happened during the transaction attempt.

Are there monthly processing fees for ATMs like a merchant account?
There are no monthly access fees.
We recommend that you use one of three ATM processors to drive your machine. Some machine manufacturers have processing arrangements in place. WRG has their own processing arrangements, as does Qualtex. For Tranax, Tidel and Triton, we recommend a different processor powered by Lynk.

The only thing the cardholder pays, the person using your ATM, is the surcharge that is set by you the owner for using the machine. Usually $1.50, $2, or more.

Financial regulations state a cardholder must be able to withdraw $200 when paying a surcharge. You can set a limit on how much can be taken out, but it has to be at least $200. The surcharge is deposited daily or monthly to your bank account, you decide which you would prefer.
All of the money withdrawn from your ATM by cardholders will be direct deposited back into your bank checking account in 24-48 business hours. The surcharge money collected will be direct deposited into your checking account also, either daily or monthly.

How much money can I make from ATM surcharges?
The first column shows if only 2 people a day used your ATM, the second column shows if 20 people a day used it. Each example shows how long it would take to pay for the machine with $1.50 surcharge. Installation charges included.
All costs are included. Purchase price, shipping, and installation.

Warranties are generally for 1 year.
The electric cord and lock are not covered for the same warranty period. Usually 30 days. Tranax offers a $15 per month warranty on parts, starting with the second year.

There are companies that will vault your ATM (add cash) if you need that service. Armored carriers will reload the machine with money and maintain it for a fee which is about $75 minimum for each trip. It can be higher depending on where your machine is located.

What's the difference between a business hours vault and a Level 1 vault? About 400 pounds!
Tidel 3400
Weight: UL 291 Business Hours Vault: 280 lb.
Weight: UL 291 Level 1 Vault: 707 lb.

That's about it, to keep the ATM running, keep paper in the machine for receipts. Put money in it when it gets low, and zero the bill counter. All the money that was taken from your machine, plus your surcharge money is deposited into your business checking account as stated above.
